"Don't Bring the Clown Down"

Apparently these clowns didn't get the memo that sensible people are already frightened to death of clowns.
The Carnival of Screams attraction has been launched to coincide with Halloween and promises a circus ‘that nightmares are made of’.

Thrillseekers will have to evade the clutches of killer clowns as part of the adrenaline-fuelled [sic] ride.

[...]

But a host of clowns have taken offence at the ride and yesterday protested claiming they were being portrayed in a negative light.

[...]

One protestor [sic], Fips the Clown, said: ”We are protesting because we feel the Alton Towers Resort’s new horror maze, Carnival of Screams, is an unfair depiction of clowns.

”It only serves to reinforce stereotypes of clowns as evil... This will do for clowns what Jaws did for sharks.”

And in other clown news, an illiterate clown named "Grumpy" was the top vote getter in Brazil's congressional election.
A Brazilian clown has had the last laugh by winning a seat in Congress with more votes than any other candidate in Sunday's elections.

Tiririca, or Francisco Oliveira Silva to give him his real name, was elected as a federal deputy for Sao Paulo with more than 1.3 million votes.

Tiririca, or "Grumpy", had slogans such as: "It can't get any worse."
