Najera had been hospitalized since December 20 after something chewed her toes completely off while she slept inside a trailer home in Berino, New Mexico.

Najera's daughter-in-law says the effects of diabetes didn't allow Najera to feel her extremities as they were being attacked.

The family says they have not slept in the trailer since the incident.
